We see whole, restored and empowered communities

where people flourish in God’s presence

Text Box: OUR VISION / MISSION
We see whole, restored and empowered women who fulfill their rightful places in society.

Women who are not financially independent are very vulnerable when they are rejected by their families or life partners. They are left to fend for themselves, usually with children. The Potter’s House offers a holistic service to address the needs of women in crisis in Tshwane, in order to strengthen and support them, intervene in crisis situations through transitional accommodation, and work towards economic empowerment.

The Potter’s House was established in 1993 as the first non-racial shelter for abused and destitute women in the city of Pretoria. In the beginning, it accommodated 17 women and their children, but from 2002 The Potter’s House is hosted by Yeast City Housing in a bigger facility where it can accommodate 24 women at a time with their children, averaging about 100 women 50 children per year.
